In the afternoon of June 20, during the 22nd CPHI & the 17th PMEC China Exhibition in Shanghai, the School of International Pharmaceutical Business (SIPB) and the China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Medicines and Health Products (CCCCMHP) co-hosted a forum on the theme of “Pharmaceutical Internationalization: Cooperation, Innovation and Development” at the New International Expo Center. The forum focused on the advance, challenges and potential opportunities in pharmaceutical internationalization, aiming to promote in-depth cooperation and communication among the alumni of our university, together with the wisdom and strength for the long-term and sound development of the pharmaceutical industry. The forum was hosted by Associate Professor Hu Xia, Director of International Trade Department of SIPB.
Prof. Chen Yongfa, a member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee, head of the Organization Department and head of the United Front Work Department of our university, delivered a report titled “Insights on the Internationalization of Pharmaceutical Regulations”, with a series of constructive opinions on this challenge of the pharmaceutical industry; Mr. Wang Yang, Deputy General Manager of the Global Procurement and Supply Chain Service Center of Sinopharm Group, took the commercialization of Azulfidine in domestic market during the pandemic and the procurement of Lianhua Qingdian capsule as the case study to introduce Sinopharm Group’s business entitled “Sinopharm's Drug Importing Service: Promoting Health, Innovating for the Future”; and Ms. Zeng Yali, Senior Consultant of Clarivate, presented a report titled “Worldwide Market Access and Challenges in Biosimilars”. She comprehensively analyzed the regulatory environment of the European and American markets of biosimilar drugs, market opportunities, features, channel strategy, pricing strategies, and development plans. Mr. Zhang Xiong, General Manager of E-Manager International Center, elaborated the characteristics, potential risks and challenges of the “Belt and Road” pharmaceutical market in his report entitled “How to Explore the ‘Belt and Road’ Pharmaceutical Market”.
The forum assembled leading experts in pharmaceutical internationalization, offering a comprehensive analysis of the industry's evolving trends. This included an examination of the background, statue quo, operational models, key achievements, and challenges within the sector of pharmaceutical internationalization. This event not only facilitates the collaboration between academia and industry, fostering closer integration of production, education, and research, but also serves as a crucial platform for educators and students to access the latest developments and cutting-edge knowledge in the pharmaceutical sector. This initiative represents a significant opportunity and provides a strong impetus for the development of talent in pharmaceutical internationalization at CPU.
