The School of International Pharmaceutical Business (SIPB) dates its founding to 1993, whose predecessor was a training program of pharmaceutical executives initiated in 1983. SIPB now consists of the Department of Business Administration, Department of Economics and Trade, Department of Pharmaceutical Administration, Department of Public Administration, Lab Center for Pharmaceutical Economics & Administration, and Education Centre for MPA.
Our school brings learners an extensive catalog of programs. We offer 2 doctoral Programs (Social & Administrative Pharmacy and Pharmacoeconomics), 5 postgraduate programs including 3 academic degree programs (Social & Administrative Pharmacy, Pharmacoeconomics, and Public Administration), and 2 professional degree programs (Administrative pharmacy, Administrative Pharmacy Orientating International Drug Registration, Administrative Pharmacy Orientating Regulatory Science, and Public Administration). For undergraduates, we provide an Economic Administrative Pilot Program composed of 5 categories: Pharmaceutical Administration, Business Administration, International Economics and Trade, Economics, and Health Services Management. Still, we open an International Economics and Trade Class for foreign students.
SIPB excels in education and talent training. We have won one National Teaching Achievement Award, six Excellent Achievement Awards for Higher Education Teaching in Jiangsu Province. One course has been listed in the First Catalog of National First-Class Undergraduate Courses, one in National Premium Quality Courses, and another two successfully listed in Premium Quality Courses in Jiangsu Province. Two textbooks of our school have been awarded the Boutique Textbook in Jiangsu Province. These all contribute to the successful approval of National First-level Key Discipline Cultivation Construction Sites in our school. In parallel, we have one Brand Major of Jiangsu Province, one Key Major of Jiangsu Province, three Featured-Major in Jiangsu Province, and one provincial-level Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center. In addition, our well-earned reputation for academic and research excellence contribute to our standing. Research teams in our school have received many honors: one team in Qing Lan Project Innovative Group, one in Qing Lan Outstanding Teaching Group of Jiangsu Province, and six teams have been awarded the Double First-Class Innovative Group at CPU.
To this day, SIPB has a total of 80 faculty and staff, including 61 full-time teachers, 4 teaching lab technicians, 5 office staff, and 10 tutors. 15 of 61 full-time teachers are professors, among whom 2 professors have been awarded “Outstanding Teachers of Jiangsu Province”; 3 awarded “Young and Mid-aged Academic Leader of Qinglan Project of Jiangsu Province”, 3 honored “Excellent Young Backbone Teachers of Qing Lan Project of Jiangsu Province”; .and 3 are listed in the third group for “333 High-Level Talent Training Project in Jiangsu Province”. Again, we have 28 associate professor and 18 lecturers. 95% of 61 full-time teachers are associate professors or with doctoral degree. A group of 20 full-time & part-time doctoral supervisor and 45 supervisors for postgraduate students set a solid foundation for talent training, not to mention the participation of an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering.
Scientific researches in our school are free to flourish. Continuous endeavors in the research organization design and team building have built up 8 high-level research teams and 7 research centers led by a number of prominent professors. In the past 5 years, our school has been funded by over 1000 projects from the followings: National Science Foundation, National Social Science Foundation, and healthcare and regulatory authorities as well as distinguished pharmas, to name a few, healthcare committees, medical insurance administration, medical products regulatory authorities, development and reform commissions at national and local level, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of PRC, etc. High-impact papers have surged in the past years. Over 1200 papers are published on SCI/SSCI journals. Our research findings have had a tremendous influence not just in the academic community, but also acted as a vital foundation and reference for national health and drug policy. The National Medical Insurance Administration, the healthcare committees, the medical products administration at national and provincial government ministries adopted our policy services. Many of our research findings and consulting recommendations have been implemented by pivotal State ministries and commissions. Further, many of our outstanding researchers have received thank-you letters from various government agencies.
