A Delegation of Dept. of Pharmaceutical Administration Visits University of Macau

Recently, Professor Chen Yongfa (member & Head of Organization Department of the CPCCPU Committee), Associate Professor Jiang Rong from the Department of Pharmaceutical Administration, Mrs. Xie Jinping from the Institute of Pharmaceutical Regulatory Science, and Guidance counsellor Zhou Jie visited the University of Macao (UM) in the summer vocation with 8 undergraduate students and 4 postgraduate students. Professor Chen Xin, Director of the Institute of Chinese Medical Sciences (ICMS) of UM, Professor Hu Yuanjia, Assistant Director of the Medicinal Administration Program along with representatives of the faculty and students of ICMS warmly received our delegation.

At the beginning of the activity, Professor Hu Yuanjia of UM gave our group a campus tour. The delegation got an overview of UM and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area in this field trop. At the opening ceremony, Professor Chen Xin, Director of ICMS, expressed his warm welcome to our professors and students. Professor Chen Yongfa also introduced the latest development of CPU to the professors and students of UM.

The visit has four parts: academic forum, lectures, exchanges of postgraduate students' academic advances and academic visits. During this visit, our delegation was invited to participate in the Professional Development of Macau Pharmacy Professionals in Shenzhen-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Forum, to further understand the laws and regulations of Greater Bay Area in respect of pharmacy professionals from multiple perspectives. In lecture part, 6 professors of ICMS delivered in-depth explanations on their own research. Prof. Hu Yuanjia gave a lecture on Data Empowerment in the Whole Chain of Biopharmaceutical R&D. Professor Ouyang Defang shared his opinion on A New Paradigm for Drug Delivery, Prof. Chen Jin talked about “AI-aided ECG identification, Prof. Bian Ying gave a presentation entitled CEA of Different Care Models in China's Urban Aging Population. Prof. Zhao Jing on  Excellent TCMs Brand Building Based on Quality Management”, and Professor Wu Xiaoling on Ensuring the Quality of Medicines: Implications for Regulatory Science, Pharmacists' Professional Practices, and Chronic Disease Management. Our students actively discussed with many experts and scholars in these face-to-face exchanges. They have a deeper understanding of pharmacy community.

During the visit, the students visited the State Key Laboratory of TCMs Quality Research. They learnt the experimental methods of TCMs pharmacology and observed the zebra fish models in TCMs research in person. In parallel with a rich sensory experience, the students also learnt a lot about the cutting edge of pharmacy. Lastly, the delegation was invited to visit the manufacturing facility of Cheong Kun Pain Reliever Oil, a distinguished TCMs brand in Macao. They were all impressed by the momentum and humanism of the development of the pharmaceutical business in Macao.

This program aims to enhance students' academic ability, expand their horizons of scientific research, increase their capacity in cross-cultural communication and collaboration. This opportunity provides cultural shocks in the international academic frontiers to students, while enhancing their critical thinking and innovative consciousness.
