As an overlapping discipline combining epidemiology, decision-making science, biostatistics, etc., pharmacoeconomics employs research methods of modern economics to comprehensively analyze costs and outcomes of healthcare projects. The master program of Pharmacoeconomics was founded in 2007, being the first independently established program of the kind in China. The program aims to cultivate senior professionals capable of conducting teaching, research and management in research institutes, institutes of higher learning, medicine businesses. The candidates should command expertise and fundamental theories of pharmacoeconomics, familiarize with international research orientation and frontier of pharmacoeconomics, grasp basic technology of pharmacoeconomics, be able to conduct research on pharmacoeconomic assessment projects under guidance of their advisors, be proficient in a foreign language. Key courses include Special Topics of Pharmacoeconomics, Research of Healthcare Economics, Econometrics, Pharmacoepidemiology, Modern Economics, Intensive Interpretation of Pharmaceutical Regulations, etc. Current research areas cover pharmacoeconomic application in drug policy, pharmacoeconomic assessment, health economics and medical security, etc.
